In praise of PostSecret

I’m typically late to the party with these things, so I’m probably preaching to the converted here. However, I wanted to take a moment to sing the praises of PostSecret.

It’s a community arts project based in the U.S. People write their deepest secrets on a postcard, the back of an envelope, a page from a magazine, whatever moves them and then send them in anonymously. New secrets are uploaded every Sunday. Some are funny, some are melancholy, some are downright heartbreaking. It’s an addictive read – not in a voyeuristic way (well not for me at any rate) – but in an incredibly comforting way. I feel relief that people are able to unburden themselves and that I am not the only one to think some very dark thoughts.
